About Me

RELAX AND LET THE GOOD VIBRATIONS
  WORK THEIR MAGIC!

Hello! I'm Filomena, also known as Mena, Fillie or Fil. Originally from Piedimonte D'Alife in Southern Italy, I have lived in England for the majority of my life and count myself as very fortunate, that my parents were brave enough to emigrate to the UK, so that they could give me and at that time, unborn siblings, better life opportunities.

Like most of us that inhabit this beautiful planet, I've had my share of ups and downs. I was taught gratitude from an early age by my mama and her trusty assistant, the wooden spoon. If I ever dared complain about anything, the rhythmic whacks to my bottom and verbal reminder that I had a roof over my head and food on the table soon shut me up!

I was a non English speaking pupil when I first attended school and thankfully picked up the language quickly with the help of my new friends. I loved school and learning. To this day, that hasn't changed. I have a voracious appetite for learning new things and am grateful for each day, the opportunity for growth that it brings and the wonderful people I encounter on my life's journey.

I also have a great interest in Energy, Alternative and Complimentary therapies. Following on from a formal Degree in the Performing Arts, I continued to study and gained Diplomas in Psychotherapy/Hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Art/Music & Sound Therapy and am a certified Bach Flower Practitioner and Reiki Master.

My life so far, has led me down some very interesting routes. I've been a drama teacher in many secondary schools. A performer with various TIE companies. An actor in what was at the time, new and innovative theatre. A Director of my own theatre school and for the past 14 years, a Clown Doctor, working in hospitals and hospices across East Anglia.

During my work as a Clown Doctor, myself and colleagues found that not only was laughter one of the best medicines, but that music and sound could also play a significant part in offering relief to patients we encountered. Screaming babies became visibly calmed by the vibrations from the Himalayan Singing bowl. Patients agitated by their Dementia symptoms, appeared to find comfort in the sounds emanating from the HAPPI Drum and were on occasion, even soothed to sleep. I found carrying a KOSHI Chime in my pocket a great aid in sparking spontaneous smiles from people as we tunefully made our way along the corridors to our Ward rounds.

I am fortunate and very grateful, that I am able to work in the two fields I love the most. Delivering fun, laughter and silliness to vulnerable children, young people and the elderly as a Clown Doctor and in my more sensible role, as a Sound Bath Practitioner, helping participants enjoy peace and relaxation via a sound journey meditation, accompanied by an eclectic mix of beautiful sacred instruments. Due to the increasing demand for Sound Bathing, I will be offering two monthly sessions from my lovely venue at Levington Village Hall. Please see my classes page for more details and follow me on my facebook page for regular updates.
